The People behind the siteMithaearon
This is the first true Games Workshop game I have been interested in. I have played Talisman before, and does Hero Quest count as a GW game? Anyway although I have had an interest in Tolkien and all things fantasy for many years I also found Warhammer to regimental, to rigid. The Lord of the Rings rules are more fluid. I first gained an interest in Tolkien back in 82/83 when I was about 4 or 5. My parents had just bought us our first family computer, a ZX Spectrum, and it came with a game, the Hobbit. This was a text adventure based on J.R.R. Tolkiens the hobbit, and it came with the book, both the game and the book captured my imagination. When my neighbour found out about my interested in this story, she suggested I watch an animated film called, 'The Lord of the Rings'. I thought it was amazing, such an exciting and diverse world. As I grew up I got an interest in Dungeons and Dragons. While I no longer play this as a pen and paper RPG, I do now play PC games based on it's rules. Other interests include reading and movie watching, playing guitar, programming computers (which is what I do for a living), and spending time with friends and family. |

HistoryMithaearon's Lord of the Rings Battle Game Site was created on 19 / 02 / 2002. I had just received the Fellowship of the Ring game for Christmas and had started to build some scenery pieces. I thought it would be a good idea to write an article on how I built Weathertop and thus the site was born. Since then more and more articles have been added. By March the site had expanded to include sections on painting, a gallery and all the stuff you have come to know and love. The picture above shows how the site used to look. On 25 / 04 / 2002 the site went through a massive redesign to handle to size increase. This is the current design. To my surprise people started sending in articles, which I thought was fantastic. From that point onwards, I have tried to make this site a community based site, and hope to continue to do so... |
