Description
Frodo, Sam, Merry and Pippin have decided that if Gandalf isn’t
meeting them tonight at the Prancing Pony, then they may as well sample
the local beer. Without realising just how strong “Old Dragon”
is, the hobbits manage to get totally drunk. Aragorn has been watching
them and is now aware of the danger that their free-running mouths
may cause.
There are also three Southerners in the inn still – spies of
Saruman. They want the hobbits to keep talking and will do whatever
it takes to help them.
Participants
Aragorn is considered the forces of good, Frodo, Sam, Merry, Pippin
and 3 Southerners armed with swords with one carrying a bow (use Mordor
Orcs stats) are considered the forces of Evil.
Layout
This scenario is set in the Prancing Pony. It is assumed that
the inn is empty of people apart from the listed participants –
the drunks have already stumbled home. The layout for the Prancing
Pony should be as made by Adrian Champion.
Starting Positions
Aragorn and the Hobbits start the game in the common room of the
Prancing Pony. Aragorn is in front of the bar, touching the centre
of it. The Hobbits are in the front corner – on the side with
the stairs to the upper level. The Southerners are in the opposite
front corner to the Hobbits.
Objectives
The objective for the Evil side is for Frodo to escape the inn.
The objective for the Good side is to prevent Frodo escaping the inn.
If any Hobbits are killed then the scenario is considered a draw.

Special Rules
None of the forces may have Elven cloaks and Frodo may not have
Sting or the Mithril coat. Aragorn is armed with a sword and bow.
The Hobbits are armed with beer mugs, furniture or decorations off
the walls – treat as hand weapons. The Southerners are armed
with swords and one may have a bow.
Aragorn must incapacitate all Hobbits and Southerners to win this
scenario. Aragorn must knock Hobbits unconscious (without killing
them) and so must defeat them in hand to hand combat. Rules for knocking
Hobbits unconscious are the same as the Amon Hen scenario in the Fellowship
of the Ring rule book. Any unconscious model can be revived by another
model moving into base contact with it.
No Hobbit may intentionally try to kill another Hobbit to create
a draw situation – the forces of Evil have been known to use
pretty underhand tactics in the past, but no Hobbit would stoop that
low. |
